THE SEED IS THE WANDERER

STRIDENT is a single-player card roguelike played entirely through mathematics.

There is no shuffled deck. No randomness. Every card you draw is the output of a deterministic formula driven by a single number — your Seed . You choose how to steer it.

Your goal: find all four Aces hidden at fixed positions in a 52-card cycle before you accumulate two Deaths or two Echoes.

HOW IT WORKS

Each turn you pick an Action (Pass, Fortify, or Pull from Future) and a Weight (1–5). These feed into the formula:

Card = (Seed× 29) + ChainOffset + Weight

The result wraps to a number between 1 and 52. That number is your card. After the draw, your Seed mutates based on what you drew and how you drew it. The Prediction Panel shows you exactly what each Weight will produce before you commit — this game rewards calculation, not luck.

WHAT MAKES IT DANGEROUS

• Kings cause Deaths. Two Deaths ends the run.
• Echoes trigger when you draw the same card twice. Two Echoes ends the run.
• Debt accumulates when you Pull from Future — ignore it at your peril.
• Weights 4 & 5 lock the moment you take your first Echo.

RELICS

After every draw, you choose one of three Relics — passive modifiers and active abilities that permanently alter the rules of your run.

Over 30 relics across six tiers:

• Common
• Uncommon
• Rare
• Legendary
• Cursed
• Seed Reducer

Some protect you. Some break the formula open. Some make winning possible. A few make things considerably worse.

ACE GLORY

Collect all four Aces in ascending order (♣→♦→♥→♠) or descending (♠→♥→♦→♣) to trigger Ace Glory — a run-saving bonus that can erase a Death, wipe an Echo, and flood your Seed with energy.

Getting three in order already earns a partial reward.
